This year’s event will focus on investing in the spirit of our youth. We will have the Annual Summit and Retreat during July 30 - August 3, 2008 for Yoga and Wellness Practitioners, Children, Teachers, Students, Seniors, Families, and Anyone with a Spirit of Love and Empowerment!

MAJOR WORKSHOP PRESENTERS
DR. MUATA ASHBY The father of Egyptian Yoga, historian on yoga and religion, and hatha yoga teacher. Has written many books on the subject of Egyptian Yoga and ties the history of yoga indisputably to Egypt and Sub-Saharan Africa. A very visual and informative presentation
DR. BRUCE BYNUM Practitioner and teacher of Kundalini Yoga and Yoga Nidra, Dr. Bynum is a professor and a psychologist at the University of Boston who has completed cutting edge research regarding the relationship between the Kundalini and melanin. He will be on a panel and conduct a workshop titled: “The Scientific and Clinical Perspective on Yoga and Movement through the Shushmana.” (practice)
DR. RICHARD KING Psychiatrist who has researched the progression and spiritual development of Black people through several ice ages as relates to the development of the 3rd Eye and how that looks going forward in these changing times. His presentation, workshop is specifically geared to the practice of yoga and meditation as well as metaphysics. He will be on a panel and conduct a workshop titled: “How climate changes affect the 3rd Eye”
NICHELLE HOSKINS Fitness Editor for Heart and Soul Magazine, yoga practitioner, conducts workshops in effective ways to get healthy and stay healthy, focusing on obesity and other chronic challenges facing our community.
DENISE DAVIDSON, SANKOFA, KAHLLIL, NADIRA AND NAWILI are creating our “YOGA for Youth Day” on Friday August 1st. Teens and pre-teens will be given an opportunity to learn about the personal growth, focus and self development afforded our youth by a dedicated yoga practice. They will be using the beautiful outdoor hiking and mountain terrain in their “Spiritual Warrior Quest”.
ANGEL KYODO WILLIAMS Buddhist priest and community activist will lead spiritual discussions and meditations.
GALA FUNDRAISING EVENT Saturday evening at the California African American Museum, will feature live music, line dancing, gourmet vegetarian cuisine, silent auction and more. Some of the founding members of IABYT will be recognized and a good time will be had by all.
VANESSA A. WILLIAMS Actress and yoga practitioner, and spokesperson for IABYT will co-host our Gala Fundraising event on Saturday the 2nd of August, which will be our Saturday Night Soiree.
JUDGE MABLEAN of Divorce Court The Honorable Judge Mablean Ephriam will co-host our Gala Fundraising event, and bring her personal transformation and story about yoga, which inspires and uplifts everyone.
